Rose M. Gering, nee Gross, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 87 years old.
Rose was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Hogan) Gross. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa, Rose went to work for Nabisco in Chicago. When she was named “Miss Nabisco” in 1949, she caught the attention of the late Charles B. Gering, a Nabisco salesman at that time. Rose and Chuck were married in 1951 and over the following 16 years became loving parents of six children: Richard C. Gering, Carol L. (Georges) Courtadon, Dr. Lawrence E. Gering, MaryPat (Dave) Welch, Charles M. (Susana) Gering, and Ann M. Gering.
When her youngest started school Rose began as a tax preparer for H&R Block; she retired in 2013 after more than 40 years. She was the proud grandmother of Matthew Gering, Emily Gering, Amanda Gering, William Gering, Christina Welch, Catherine Courtadon, Robert Courtadon, Sam Gering, Elizabeth Gering, Brian Welch, and Emma Gering. She was preceded in death by her brother John Gross.
Visitation is Sunday, March 22 from 2-8pm at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd at Northwest Hwy, Mt. Prospect. Funeral Monday 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home to St. Emily Church. Mass 9:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery in Evanston.
